Character Crush: Raine Mason of Making The First Move

Character Crush
Because Authors have crushes too!

1.  My character crush: Raine Mason of Making the First Move.

2.  What attracts you to Raine and why is he your character crush?

What makes Raine Mason, the hero in my debut novel, Making the First Move, crush-worthy is his heart. He’s made some serious mistakes in his life, but he took a devastating event and used it as his motivation to have a positive impact on the world. That’s what makes him a truly amazing man.

3.  What actor or actress resembles Raine?

From the beginning, Gary Dourdan was the inspiration for Raine Mason. Remember when you first saw him as Shazza Zulu on a Different World?

4.  What has been the biggest conflict in Raine’s life?

Raine has left his past behind and reinvented himself which works fine, as long as it’s just him. When he opens his heart to someone he is left with the conflict of if, and when, he should reveal his secret to the woman he’s fallen madly in love with, and if she’ll be able to accept him once she knows.

5.  Does Raine believe in second chances in life and love? If no, why?

Raine wants to believe in second chances, that dedicating his life to helping others can somehow act as a balance to his past mistakes. Yet, deep down he has his reservations about whether he’ll ever deserve true happiness.

6.  Describe Raine in two sentences from your book.

Selfless (and insanely sexy) philanthropist, Raine Mason, is committed to his cause. But his passion for rescuing high-risk young males from the road to disaster is fueled by his own dark and tragic past.

7.  What past event in Raine’s life has defined him the most?

I can’t reveal what it is, but there is a life-changing event in Raine’s past that caused him to re-examine his life and take it in a completely different direction. It is the reason he is so committed to his cause. Still, memories of his past continue to haunt.
